The region of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie offers a great number of surprises through its coast, dunes, forest and marshes. Explore this exceptional site in an unspoiled nature. You’ll find many activities to share with family or friends:

  • Lovely hikes or cycle tracks by the sea or in the counrtyside can be accessed around the campsite

With your family, have fun scraping the sand during a fishing session on foot and then enjoy winkles, shrimps and barnacles!

The vineyards are part of the Bremen landscape. In recognition of the quality of their wines, the winegrowers obtained the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in 2011.

The hinterland also offers beautiful walks… The Lac du Jaunay (15 minutes from Le Chaponnet) offers a 40 hectare area to be explored via wide footpaths and cycle paths.

The local star : the sardine

It is the flagship product of Saint Gilles Croix de vie.
Each year, about 2900 tons of sardines are fished in the port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. Come early to the quays of this colourful port to watch the arrival of the fishermen.

Don’t miss the Cannery “Les Dieux”, the last one still in operation. Discover the history of the sardine which has conquered our taste buds for over 130 years.

Experience a visit to the Criée of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. Experience the auction of the day’s catch live. (Visit on reservation at the Tourist Office).

Treasure hunt

The tourist information offices of the Saint Gilles Croix de Vie area have set up treasure hunts in the communes of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Saint Hilaire de Riez, Brétignolles sur Mer, Brem sur Mer and Commequiers for families with children (aged 7 to 13).

The concept is to follow the riddles through the municipalities and find the treasure in the relevant office. Be careful, you have to find the right code! (3€ per family)
