SWIMMING AND PICNICKING UNDER THE PINE TREES

Choosing Vendée is the assurance of finding wild and preserved beaches. Some of these magnificent sandy stretches are listed as the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This reputation is greatly deserved.
However, while they are certainly worth a visit, they are sometimes victims of their success in the high season.

If you prefer to get off the beaten track, you should know that more confidential beaches are just as beautiful…
Just for you, here is a small overview.

PLAGE DES DUNES 2 (1,3KM FROM THE CAMPSITE):

This is the closest beach to your base camp. Moreover, it is an absolute bargain! Bordered by magnificent dunes, it is simply a postcard setting. Here you can lay your towel on fine, warm sand (it’s much more comfortable than pebbles) and, above all, enjoy the space around you.

Free beach shuttle from the campsite in July/August!

Good to know: Supervised beaches with first aid post / Easy access / Parking available

PLAGE DES GRANGES (3km)

It is a large and beautiful beach with lifeguard surveillance in summer. It is easy to get to, and there is a snack bar for you to eat.
It is a trendy spot for windsurfers, who find ideal conditions here to practice their passion.
Beware, further south, the phenomenon of “baïnes” (undertow) makes swimming dangerous.

Good to know: Supervised beaches with first aid post / easy access / several car parks available.

PLAGE DE LA PARACOU (10 MN DRIVE FROM THE CAMPSITE):

It is a very charming beach located on the wild coast. If you want our opinion, it is a trip to make with family or friends. The bravest among you will leave the car in the garage and get on the bikes.

And off you go for a dream day… (Please note that you should check the tide schedule first. For the programme we are preparing for you, it should be LOW TIDE in the morning)

Start by going to the beach of Paracou by taking the cycle tracks, which will lead you to it. In addition to the friendliness that will accompany you on the way, you will be amazed. Breathtaking views guaranteed!
On the spot, you will choose your activity… lazing around and swimming, beach volleyball or sandcastle; you will taste above all the pleasure of being together.

Le Chaponnet’s advice:

  • Save the activities mentioned above for after the picnic…
  • Take advantage of the low tide to try your hand at fishing by going out to catch shellfish.
  • In addition to discovering this friendly activity, you will be able to have your evening meal…
  • The beach of Paracou lends itself wonderfully to this fun activity.

The Chaponnet’s reminder…

  • A picnic worthy of the name.
  • An excellent sun cream.
  • Hydration (water, lots of water and possibly a fresh rosé* as an aperitif)
  • Fishing equipment (clam digger, rake, bucket…).
  • A good physical condition (optional)

*To be consumed with moderation.
